[ Plan well ahead of release day! Think of the marketing aspects, the artwork to accompany it, getting the word out to your fans and followers, getting your music in front of the right ears. We see many artists put out great music but it just doesn't get the airtime it deserves. Think about professional marketing campaigns if you have the budget - the right partner can get the word out ]
[ How's that mix? ]
[ Get the mix right and get the energy where you want it to be. Is the kick too much, how about those cymbals? Will it play well in a club? If you're not sure if the mix is right or ready get your music in front of some critical ears before your final master. [ Labels get a bad wrap in industry for taking large cuts from artists but depending on who you work with the benefits can outweigh the cons. For one, labels take on the overhead of getting the music distributed effectively. They know the ins and outs of the industry and free you up to focus on what you do best, make music. Secondly, all the professional artwork and materials are handled for you. Then there's the question of the release schedule and co-ordinating an effective worldwide release that hits the right notes ]
[ The bottom line is, unless you've got the time to handle the entire process end-to-end yourself, you should rather focus on getting your demo's out to labels so that they can help you grow or at the very least offer you some critical feedback to improve your productions ]
